Spartans Spectators of All Ages Cheer On Boys Soccer Team

From high school students to 90-year-old residents, all came out to see the team's opening game Aug. 23.

The boys soccer team kicked off its season Aug. 23 before an audience of students, parents and senior citizens.

Dozens of people of all ages showed up to support the boys in their opening matchup.

Susie Luttenegger, mother of senior captain Nathan Luttenegger, said she invited all her fitness class students she teachs through City of Richfield programs to the game. Unfortunately, the team lost 0-1 to Washburn High School, but nevertheless the large crowd was a highlight.

"What a fun night!" Luttenegger wrote to Patch in an e-mail. "To see 40 or more people of all ages; from 50 to 94 cheering with pom poms and laughing and supporting our boys."

The team is currently 1-3 after a win over Hastings Tuesday night. The boys will now take on Henry Sibley Sept. 6.
