Spartans Baseball Wins Four Straight Games

After dropping season opener, Richfield goes on a tear and is tied for Classic Suburban Conference lead.

Doing the best that they can against wildly varying weather conditions, local teams continue to compete in the early stages of their respective seasons with the Richfield baseball team even thriving with four-straight victories heading into this week.

Richfield Baseball: Spartans Now 4-1

After losing its season opener at Hopkins, the has won four-straight games and is currently tied for first place in the Classic Suburban Conference (CSC).

North St. Paul was the Spartans latest victim, as host Richfield topped the Polars by a 6-5 score on April 14.

It was the third CSC victory in as many tries for Coach Dave Boie's squad after Richfield thumped and South St. Paul 5-0 on April 13.

The Spartans first win of the year came in a 4-2 non-conference home win versus Virginia on Friday, April 8.

This week, Richfield is scheduled to host conference rivals Tartan and Mahtomedi on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

Holy Angels Boys Lacrosse: Stars Win in OT, Remain Unbeaten

With an 11-10 overtime victory against visiting Blaine at on Monday, the Holy Angels boys lacrosse team remained unbeaten at 3-0 on the season.

Bennett Courrier-Oaster logged three goals, with Michael Mills-Rittman, Matt Turner and Alex Guyette each scoring twice in the victory.

T.J. Patrias currently leads the team with eight goals through three games, with Turner's 10 assists pacing the Stars over the same span.

Holy Angels, which had also topped Chaska/Chanhassen, 11-10, in Missota Conference play on April 14, hosts Burnsville at 5:30 p.m. Thursday in its lone matchup of this week.

Holy Angels Baseball: Stars Win One of First Three Games

The Holy Angels baseball team opened the spring season with a 1-3 record, including a 1-0 Missota Conference loss at Chanhassen on Monday night.

A 12-0 defeat of Farmington in the home opener on April 12 stands as the Stars' lone victory, with Holy Angels also having lost to Hopkins (7-4) and Shakopee (12-2).

The Stars are slated to travel to Northfield, MN on Tuesday afternoon and host Chaska at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Holy Angels Softball: Stars Sandwich Victory With Losses

The Holy Angels softball team has sandwiched its lone win of the season, 9-8 versus Minnehaha Academy on April 13, with a pair of losses on each side to sit at 1-4 heading into a Tuesday game against Missota foe Northfield.

After opening the season with two setbacks, the Stars topped the Redhawks at Taft Park in non-conference play, then fell in its next two games—including a 13-6 home conference loss to Chanhassen on Monday.

Holy Angels is scheduled to travel to New Prague, MN for a Missota matchup on Wednesday; its final game of the week.

Holy Angels Girls Lacrosse: Stars Win First Of Season

The won its first game of the season on Friday, April 15, defeating Benilde-St. Margaret's by a score of 11-10 at the Stardome.

Isabella Stewart leads the Stars with nine goals through the first two weeks, with Jane Schumacher logging four tallies.

Holy Angels travels to Minnehaha Academy on Tuesday evening, then hosts Missota rival Chaska at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.

Richfield Boys Tennis: Spartans Top Cooper For First Win of Season

A 4-3 defeat of Robbinsdale Cooper on Monday at home got the Richfield boys tennis team in the win column after four consecutive losses to open the season.

Individual results were not available.

The Spartans are scheduled to travel to South St.Paul on Tuesday and host Hill-Murray on Thursday.

Results were not available for the Holy Angels track and field teams or the Richfield girls golf team.
