Richfield's Darby Hendrickson to Return as Assistant Wild Coach Next Season

The Minnesota Wild announce Richfield native Darby Hendrickson will return for the 2011-12 season as an assistant coach.

The Minnesota Wild announced Thursday that Richfield native will return as an assistant coach for the 2011-12 season.

Hendrickson is a former Spartans hockey player who played 10 seasons in the NHL, including a stint as a Wild player in the team's first season in 2000. Hendrickson also played on the U.S. Olympic team in 1994. He also scored the Wild's first goal in Xcel Energy Center, according to Fox Sports North.

This announcement comes just two weeks after new head coach Mike Yeo was hired. Hendrickson is one of four assistant coaches.
