Red Knights Top Orioles on Homecoming

Jack Naughtin ran for three touchdowns as defeated visiting , 44-13, in the Homecoming football game for the Red Knights on Saturday afternoon.

BSM never trailed, taking a 7-0 lead on a 59-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Keaton Studsrud to wide receiver Isaiah Gray in the first quarter before scoring runs of 39 and four yards by Naughtin put the hosts up 21-0 in the second quarter.

Running back Desmon Martin put the Orioles on the board with a 1-yard touchdown run to cut the score to 21-6 after a failed extra point attempt, but BSM tacked on one more score on a 17-yard touchdown pass from Studsrud to wideout Joe Sutton as the hosts took a 28-6 halftime lead.

The Red Knights scored 10 more unanswered points in the third quarter on a 21-yard field goal by kicker Paul Graupner and one last touchdown run from Naughtin—this time for 57 yards—to up their lead to 37-6 heading into the final frame.

Martin capped Park's final scoring possession with a touchdown run of four yards to pull the Orioles to within 24 points before one last BSM touchdown—a three-yard scoring run from running back Garrett Haughey—brought the count to its eventual 44-13 final.

Park quarterback Jacolbi Courington-Meier threw for a game-high 165 yards in the loss, while Naughtin was the day's top rusher with 124 yards on the ground while Gray led all receivers with 90 yards through the air.

The victory improved the Red Knights to 3-2 on the season as they prepare to play at Spring Lake Park—the No. 10-ranked team in Class 4A—at 1 p.m. next Saturday.

Park's third-straight loss dropped the Orioles to 2-3 this autumn, with a home game against Hopkins coming up at 7 p.m. next Friday.
