Playoff Time For Holy Angels Lacrosse, Richfield Softball

Spartans host St. Louis Park Tuesday, Stars begin sectionals at home and away on Wednesday.

It's playoff time for several local teams as the began the postseason on Monday, while the prepare to begin the postseason this week.

Richfield Softball: Spartans Open Playoffs Versus St. Louis Park

Following a 10-7 regular season, the begins the Section 6AAA Tournament as the No. 3 seed with an opening-round game against 11th-seed St. Louis Park at 5 p.m. Thursday at (RMS).

The Spartans finished third in the Classic Suburban Conference (CSC) this spring with a 9-5 conference record.

With a win on Tuesday, Richfield will play either Robbinsdale Cooper or Wayzata on Thursday at 5 p.m. at RMS.

Holy Angels Boys Lacrosse: Stars Begin Section 5 Play on Wednesday

The finished off a 6-7 season with a 10-2 win at Farmington on May 19 and an 11-3 loss at Benilde-St. Margaret's on May 21.

The Stars earned a No. 5 seed for the Section 5 playoffs and are scheduled to host No. 12 Bloomington Kennedy at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday afternoon in the postseason opener.

If Holy Angels defeats the Eagles, it would play at No. 4 seed Breck on Friday at 7 p.m.

Holy Angels Girls Lacrosse: Stars Begin Playoffs At Minneapolis

The begins the Section 5 playoffs as the No. 11 seed and will play sixth-seeded Minneapolis at Washburn High School on Wednesday at 7 p.m.

The Stars closed out the regular season with a pair of victories, defaeting Farmington, 10-7, on May 19 and Breck, 14-8, on May 20 to close out the regular season at 5-8.

Holy Angels Boys Golf: Stars Sixth in Missota Championship Meet

With a card of 337, the Holy Angels boys golf team finished sixth in the Missota Conference championship meet at New Prague Golf Club on Monday. Individual statistics were not available. 

Holy Angels Girls Golf: Stars Seventh in Conference Title Meet

The Holy Angels girls golf team finished seventh in the Missota Conference championship meet on Monday with a score of 440. Individual statistics were not available. 

Richfield Baseball: Spartans Close Regular Season With Win

A 5-3 win over Minneapolis Southwest on May 20 brought the regular season to an end with a 13-7 overall record.

The Spartans finished in a third-place tie with Tartan in the final CSC standings after a 10-0 loss to conference champion Hill-Murray on May 19 ended Richfield's circuit schedule with a 10-6 mark.

Next up for Richfield is the Section 6AAA Tournament, set to begin on Thursday. Seedings and matchups will be determined on Tuesday.

Holy Angels Baseball: Holy Angels 16, New Prague 4

The pulled into a third-place tie in the final Missota Conference tally after throttling New Prague, 16-4, on May 19.

With one game remaining in its regular season—versus Benilde-St. Margaret's at 4 p.m. Tuesday at —the Stars have an 8-8 overall record and finished 8-6 in the Missota.

Matt Workman leads Holy Angels with a .467 batting average, while paces the pitching staff with a 4-2 overall record, a 1.64 earned run average and 62 strikeouts.

Results were not available for meets involving the Richfield girls and boys golf teams on Monday.
