Local Athletes Dodge Raindrops For Mid-Week Matchups

Richfield, Holy Angels sports teams able to get in almost all contests on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Despite playing under the threat of thunderstorms on both Tuesday and Wednesday, Richfield and Holy Angels sports teams both managed to get in nearly the entirety of their mid-week schedules.

Richfield Softball: Spartans 5, Zephyrs 4 (11 innings)

Danielle Pues recorded the game-winning RBI with an 11th inning double to push the to a 5-4 win at Mahtomedi on Wednesday.

The Spartans also won at Tartan, 5-2, on Tuesday and have now won four-straight contests.

The victories improved Richfield to 11-4 on the season and kept the squad within 1.5 games of North St. Paul in the Classic Suburban Conference (CSC) title race with a 10-2 circuit record.

Richfield Baseball: Tartan 11, Spartans 9

After being on Tuesday, the Richfield baseball team suffered a conference road loss in an 11-9 setback at Tartan on Wednesday. 

Individual results were not available. The Spartans dropped to 9-5 overall and 8-4 in the CSC with the defeat.

Richfield Boys Golf: Spartans Third At Inver Wood

The Richfield boys golf team finished third in its CSC meet at Inver Wood Golf Course on Wednesday, recording a score of 186. Individual results were not available.

Holy Angels Baseball: Stars Remain At .500

A 5-1 loss to Northfield on Tuesday followed by a 7-6 defeat of New Prague on Wednesday kept the at .500 with a 6-6 overall record and a 6-5 Missota Conference mark.

Matt Workman leads the Stars with a .452 batting average and 13 RBI, with Will Pagel's 13 runs scored pacing the club; tops the Holy Angels pitching staff with a 1.18 earned run average, 55 strikeouts and three victories.

Holy Angels Boys Tennis: Stars 4, Northfield 3

The Holy Angels boys tennis team defeated Northfield, 4-3, on Tuesday. Individual results were not available.

Results were not available for the sectional True Team track and field meets involving Richfield and Holy Angels on Tuesday.
