Holy Angels Lacrosse, Richfield Softball Advance In Sectionals

Stars, Spartans win mid-week playoff openers.

The spring season continued for the and the as all three won their sectional mid-week playoff openers.

Richfield Softball: Spartans 10, St. Louis Park 1

The defending Section 6AAA champion won the opening game of this year's bracket in convincing fashion, 10-1, against No. 11 seed St. Louis Park at (RMS) on Tuesday.

The third-seeded Spartans will play No. 2 Wayzata at 5 p.m. Thursday at RMS.

Holy Angels Boys Lacrosse: Stars 13, Bloomington Kennedy 5

A 13-5 defeat of 12th-seeded Bloomington Kennedy on Wednesday advanced No. 5 seed Holy Angels into the Section 5 tournament quarterfinals.

The Stars will play at No. 4 Breck on Friday at 7 p.m.

Holy Angels Girls Lacrosse: Stars 12, Minneapolis 10

The , seeded 11th in the Section 5 Tournament, upset No. 6 seed Minneapolis, 12-10, at Washburn High School on Wednesday. 

With the win, the Stars advance to face third-seeded Edina at 5:30 p.m. Friday night at the Edina Community Center.

Holy Angels Baseball: Benilde-St. Margaret's 9, Stars 2

A 9-2 loss to Benilde-St. Margaret's in the regular-season finale dropped the to 8-9 overall this spring heading into the playoffs.

The Stars will face Bloomington Jefferson (7-13) in the Section 6AAA Tournament opener at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Dred Scott Park in west Bloomington.

Richfield Baseball: Spartans Draw Lakers

The , after defeating Minneapolis Southwest in its regular season finale, will open the Section 6AAA playoffs against the Lakers at home at 4:30 p.m. Thursday. Both teams finished their pre-sectional schedule with a 13-7 record.

Richfield Boys Golf: Spartans Seventh at Conference Tournament

The Richfield boys golf team placed seventh at the Classic Suburban Conference (CSC) Tournament at Keller Golf Course in Maplewood on Wednesday, carding a score of 341.

Kyle Ahlstrand and Scott Boe tied for the team lead after each fired a score of 83, with Boe shooting a Spartans-best 39 on the back nine; Travis Moore logged an 85 and Jack Stellon a 90 to round out Richfield's scoring.
