Fred Wroge to Return as Head Holy Angels Softball Coach

Wroge retired from the Richfield City Council last fall.

Former Richfield City Councilman Fred Wroge will be taking over has head coach for the Academy of Holy Angels softball team. The announcement came Wednesday afternoon.

According to a school press release, this is the second time Wroge has held the position. He coached the from 1991 to 2005. In 2000, the team won the state championship. The 2000 team was recently inducted into AHA’s Activities Hall of Fame in honor of that accomplishment.

“Fred has had a long relationship with AHA and achieved many successes during his coaching career," AHA Athletic Director Michael Kautzman said in the release. "We are very fortunate to have him return to our program, and we look forward to him leading the team."

In addition, Wroge coached varsity softball at Bloomington Jefferson and Bloomington Kennedy high schools. He also served St. Peter’s Catholic School as its athletic director in the mid-1980s. 

Wroge holds degrees in both business and child psychology from the University of Minnesota.
