Coach's Death Prompts Recollections of 1960 MN Basketball Semifinal with Richfield
Tiny Edgerton upset No. 1-ranked Richfield that year. Edgerton coach Richie Olson died last week, the Star Tribune reported.
Richfield Senior High School's top-rated 1960 basketball team was mentioned in a Star Tribune news item on the death last week of Richie Olson, who coached Edgerton's Flying Dutchman passed the Spartans in the state tournament that year.
Minnesota Public Radio resurrected WCCO-AM play-by-play audio of the game's final seconds for the 50th anniversary of the 1960 season in 2010, as well as a photo showing Richfield player Bill Davis in action against Edgerton.
