UPDATE: Bill Freezing Public School Workers' Salaries Not Expected to Pass
State legislators tell Richfield School Board that they don't believe the measure will become law.
(D-Richfield), (D-Richfield) and House Minority Leader Paul Thissen were all present at the Richfield School Board's study session prior to its to update the board on the status of S.F. 56, a bill which starting July 2011.
Legislators told the board they don't believe the measure will become law.
"It will not pass ... [Gov. Mark Dayton] will not sign it," Slocum said. "He will veto and they will not have the votes to override that veto."

Slocum added, "I'm just grateful we've got [Gov. Dayton] there. Many districts are already having their teachers salaries frozen just because of budget concerns and it really should be an issue that the school board and the teachers come together and they make the best deal they can with what they've got because that's just fair."
The bill was and moves to the Minnesota House of Representatives for consideration. The date of the House vote is not yet know.
