Former Richfield Football Player Awaits NFL Draft Weekend

Richfield's Trevor Olson is in the running to be drafted to the NFL this weekend.

grad and former Spartans football player has been picked as one of six promising Minnesota prospects going into the NFL Draft, which starts Thursday night.

"[Olson is] an experienced four-year starter who was recruited to Northern Illinois by current Minnesota head coach ," Shawn Zobel, a local draft expert, said in a Pioneer Press article. "Trevor Olson is a battle-tested veteran who has the raw size that you look for at the position (6 feet 6, 298 pounds). Olson doesn't have ideal athleticism and may need to kick inside to guard at the next level, but should be given an opportunity either as a late-round pick or as an undrafted free agent."

Olson, an offensive tackle, is the eldest son of . Both told Patch that excitement was running high in their family, however, they were playing it cool. Rather than sitting on pins and needles throughout the weekend waiting for news, Trevor Olson said he will be hitting the links for some golf.

Round 1: Thursday, April 26 beginning at 7 p.m. (CST);

Rounds 2 and 3: Friday, April 27 beginning at 6 p.m. (CST);
