School Board Candidate Chris Williams: 'Richfield is My Home'

School board candidates answer Patch's questionairre.

Chris Williams has lived in Richfield since 2002 and is running for his first term on the Richfield School Board. Williams was present at the and stuck around to answer Patch's questions.

Richfield Patch: Why did you decide to run for the Richfield School Board?

Chris Williams: I have two children in the Richfield School District. I think that it’s time to be of greater service to my city. If you’re not willing to take part in the system, you should not complain about it.

Richfield Patch: What do you see as your particular qualifications for serving on the Richfield School Board?

Williams: [I have a] B.A. in English from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, and M.A. in education from the University of St. Thomas. ... [I've been an] English teacher at the since 2000 [and] tutored English to new immigrants for several years.

Richfield Patch: What do you think are the major issues facing the district in the coming years?

Williams: Early childhood education, ... support for and RDLS (), ... and spending the community’s money wisely.

Richfield Patch: What are a few things voters should know about you?

Williams: I’ve moved 22 times in my life, thus stability is important to me. Richfield is my home. [In addition], I started school in Buenos Aires and I know Spanish.
