Richfield Whiz Kid of the Week:

Sophi Bromenshenkel

• Accomplishment: Raised and donated more than $3,500 for shark preservation efforts.
• Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomness: She is incredibly dedicated to shark preservation and research and raises her money with lemonade and hot chocolate stands, among other things. She recently spent five days at the University of Miami finding sharks, tagging them and tracking them. A Tiger Shark has recently been named after Sophi and Sophi can track this shark and its location online.

"She is our shark girl," said Jason Wenschlag, principal of Sheridan Hills, in an e-mail. "She has also been nominated for a national humanitarian related reward ... She is a Whiz Kid!"

Sophi Bromenshenkel was nominated by Wenschlag and the attached photos of her in action were provided by her mom, Kori Bromenshenkel.
