Richfield Patch's Whiz Kid of the Week: Kelsey Metz

• 18 years old
• Accomplishment: Set to receive the 2010 Athena Award for numerous accomplishments in athletics.
• Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: Her achievements are not limited to one sport; Kelsey Metz has received high honors in diving and gymnastics as well as track. In diving, she's lettered all four years of high school and made it to state finals sophomore, junior and senior year where she placed 16th, eighth and fourth, respectively. Her rankings junior and senior year placed her as one of the best divers in the state. In gymnastics, she's made most valuable player every year, making it to state finals her junior and senior year and won the distinguished academic student award for gymnastics last year. She has ranked all-conference all four years. In track, she's made all-state as a sophomore and junior, as well as all-conference her junior year.

Metz was recognized by the and will receive her Athena Award at a ceremony May 7 at the Minneapolis Convention Center. She hopes to attend Winona State University next year.
