Richfield to Take on Hill Murray in Homecoming Game

Richfield battles undefeated Hill-Murray in Classic Suburban Conference showdown, while Holy Angels hosts Red Wing Friday.

The Games

Classic Suburban Conference: Richfield Spartans (1-1, 1-1) vs. Hill-Murray Pioneers (2-0, 2-0)

Missota Conference: Holy Angels Stars (2-0, 1-0) vs. Red Wing Wingers (2-0, 1-0)

Both games are being played at home and begin at 7 p.m. Friday. This will be the Homecoming game for the Spartans.

Playmakers

Eric Jimson—(Richfield wide receiver)

Mike Dyer—(Richfield defensive line)

  • Three-year regular for the Spartans.

Sam Becker—(Hill-Murray running back)

  • Senior rushed for 174 yards and scored three touchdowns this season.

David Simmet—(Hill-Murray offensive tackle)

  • Six-foot-9, 300-pound tackle who is hearing from Minnesota and Wisconsin, among other schools.

Sam Keis—(Holy Angels quarterback)

  • Keis was efficient through the air (5-for-10, 63 yards, one touchdown) and on the ground (nine carries for 62 yards and a score) last Friday.

Will Pagel—(Holy Angels running back)

  • Pagel scored four touchdowns against New Prague, three on the ground and one through the air. He now has 99 yards rushing and 136 yards receiving on the season.

Joel Newman—(Red Wing quarterback)

  • Newman had a hand in all four Red Wing touchdowns— he threw for three scores and ran for another—in the Wingers win over Farmington.
Spartans will win if ...

They can continue their strong play at home. The Spartans won the season opener 27-13 over North St. Paul as they played on their new turf field.

Pioneers will win if ...

They can continue their strong offensive fireworks. They scored 69 points in first year head coach Brooks Bollinger’s first two games.

Stars will win if …

They continue to pile up points on offense. They've scored 77 points in two road wins, the most of any Missota Conference team. The Stars defense hasn't been too bad either, allowing a league-best 20 points through two games.

Wingers will win if …

They can play as well on the road as they have at home the first two weeks of the season. It's been six years since Red Wing has won more than two games in a season, but they are poised for a 3-0 start to the 2011 season.
