PHOTOS: Richfield Swimmers Place Fourth in True Team Section Meet

Visitation wins seventh straight 4A title.

All things considered, swimming coach Marc Hamren was pretty pleased with his team's fourth-place finish in the five-team Section 4A True Team Meet Saturday at .

“The kids were swimming pretty tired,” he said. “They've soaked up a lot of work lately, so I'm proud of the fact that they're racing as well as they are.”

Visitation easily outdistanced the competition Saturday to win its seventh straight True Team Section 4A championship.

Visitation scored 996 points in the meet, with Hill-Murray a distant second with 765 points. Chisago Lakes scored 627 for third, followed by Richfield with 563 points and the with 46.

Richfield's lone event champion was diver Courtney Miller. Miller, the lone Richfield diver to compete Saturday, was nearly 37 points better than second-place Sam Thomsen of Chisago Lakes.

Hamren said the performance of the meet came from Claire Magno in the backstroke. Magno's 1:13.46 finish was nearly three seconds faster than her previous lifetime best in the event.

Holy Angels' distant fifth place finish was the result of a shortage of swimmers. The Stars had just 16 entries in the meet, while the other four teams had between 48 and 61 entrants.
