The Spartans face a talented field in the Shakopee Invitational Tuesday. Shakopee is led by two-time state champion Maria Hauger. Richfield head coach Marty Huberty, who ran the recent and has run more than 75 marathons in his life. The Shakopee Invitational is a good tune-up for the Classic Suburban Conference (CSC) Championships and Section 3AA Championships coming up later in October 2011.

- (5K), held at the University of Minnesota with a time of 19:42. She was seventh overall in the 4K race in 15 minutes, 23 seconds. Olson, who is one of the state’s top runners, was third in the Hudson Raider Invitational and won the CSC meet in September. She was 46th in the Class AA state meet last season.
Erin Brault
- The sophomore finished 65th at the Griak Invitational with a time of 21:35. She finished 33rd (16:54.0) in the Burnsville Blaze Invitational.
Sarah Nygaard
- The senior finished 163rd in the Griak Invitational with a time of 22:53. She was 71st (17:59.7) in the Burnsville Blaze Invitational.
