Richfield High French Students Achieve Honors in National Contest

The National French Contest is an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French.

A handful of Richfield High School French students acheived honors in the National French Contest.

The National French Contest, or Le Grand Concours, is an annual competition sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of French, according to the contest's website. Students of French in Grades 1-12, in all 50 states and abroad, take a written test and compete against students with similar educational background for prizes.

Teacher Margaret Laboe said the exam tests students' French skills in listening, grammar, vocabulary and reading.

The following are the students who received honors:

National Winners

  • Victoria Tidjani placed fifth in the nation in the Level 1C section;
  • Arlette Reyes-Geniz placed sixth in the nation in the Level 2A section.

Honorable Mentions - State Winners

  • Jordy Chavez-Estrada placed 12th in the state in the Level 1A section;
  • Italia Figueroa placed 11th in the state in the Level 2A section;
  • Stephen Tidjani placed ninth in the state in the Level 5C section.
