PHOTOS: Richfield High Celebrates NAAPID

Richfield community members, students, parents and faculty gathered Monday to celebrate National African American Parent Involvement Day.

welcomed parents of students Monday morning for its second annual (NAAPID) event.

NAAPID was founded in 1995 by former educator Joseph Dulin out of Ann Arbor, MI. In light of the increasing academic achievement gap and lack of parental involvement in schools for African American youth, Dulin formed NAAPID as a national call to action to get more African American parents involved in their children's education.

Monday's event featured a welcome breakfast of southern biscuits and gravy, tours of classrooms and speaker Darrick Smith, who is the center director for educational policy organization, LearningWorks, CA. also held a similar event Monday morning.
