Richfield Football Team Falls to 1-3

Spartans topped, 38-20, at Henry Sibley on Friday night.

The football team lost its third-straight game on a chilly Friday night in West St. Paul as the autumn sports campaign inched closer to the conclusion of the regular season.

A 38-20 defeat at Classic Suburban Conference (CSC) rival Henry Sibley dropped the to 1-3 on the season.

Camren Dearing scored twice, once on a 13-yard run in the first quarter and again on a 90-yard kickoff return late in the fourth quarter to lead the Spartans, with Erik Jimson adding an 84-yard touchdown run in the setback.

The Richfield girls swimming and diving team topped North St. Paul, 94-87, last Thursday. 

Earning individual victories for the Spartans were: Courtney Miller (1-meter diving), Sarah Pospisil (200-yard individual medley and 100-yard butterfly) and Kinya Gilbert (50- and 100-yard freestyle).

Richfield's 200-yard medley (Aya Eid, Claire Magno, Leah Boldt, ellie Stok) and freestyle (Gilbert, Pospisil, Eid, Cori Benson) relay teams also earned event victories. 

Holy Angels Girls Soccer

A 5-1 defeat of then No. 7-ranked Visitation on Saturday was the seventh-straight win for the girls soccer team, making the Stars the new No. 7 rankee in the most recent Class A poll.

Five different players—Katie Budin, Shannon McQuillan, Bernadette Prickel, Bridget Schoffman and Lauren Victor—scored for the Stars in the win that improved the squad to 7-2-1 this autumn.

Holy Angels Boys Soccer

A 2-1 win over previously undefeated Benilde-St. Margaret's—the top-ranked team in Class A—increased the Holy Angels boys soccer team unbeaten streak to eight games.

Lucas Ciabattoni and Charlie Koontz scored for the Stars in the victory that improved the squad to 6-1-3 this season, as goalkeeper Adam Roloff made 14 saves to clinch the triumph.

Holy Angels Cross-Country

It was a perfect Saturday for a run and the Holy Angels cross-country teams competed in the AAA division of the Milaca Mega Meet, one of the largest in the state.

The Stars girls finished 11th overall, led by Laura Bagwell's 29th-place finish 16 minutes, 21.3 seconds; paced by Jake Ajax's run of 18:11.7, the AHA boys took 14th.

Richfield Volleyball

The entered this week at 8-7 overall after going 2-2 at a tournament it hosted on Saturday, defeating Minneapolis Roosevelt and Bethany Academy and losing to Faribault and Sauk Rapids-Rice. Individual statistics were not made available.

Richfield Girls Soccer

The suffered its fifth-straight shutout loss and seventh setback in a row since winning its season opener as an 8-0 loss at South St. Paul last Thursday dropped the Spartans to 1-7 overall. Individual statistics were not made available.

The Richfield girls tennis team lost 7-0 to Mahtomedi last Thursday. Individual statistics were not made available.

Holy Angels Volleyball

The Holy Angels volleyball team lost 3-0 at Missota Conference foe Chanhassen last Thursday to fall to 5-7 overall and 0-3 in circuit play. Individual statistics were not made available.

Holy Angels Girls Tennis

A 6-1 loss to conference foe Shakopee dropped the Holy Angels girls tennis team to 7-7-1 on the year. Individual statistics were not made available.
