Richfield Football Player In Line to Receive Outland Trophy Award

A member of the Richfield High School Class of 2007 and a offensive lineman for Northern Illinois University, Trevor Olson was recently named to the Outland Trophy Watch List.

Richfield native and former football player Trevor Olson was named as one of 65 interior lineman to the Outland Trophy Watch List and is up for being awarded the 2011 Outland Trophy. Olson will be senior at Northern Illinois University in Fall 2011 and is the most experienced Huskies lineman, according to an article on the school’s website.

The award is named after John Outland—an All-American lineman at Penn and Kansas at the turn of the 20th Century—and will be given to the top interior lineman in December 2011.

Olson, who has started 40 straight games at left tackle for the Huskies, is the only representative from the Mid-American Conference (MAC), the article said. Olson was also s first team All-MAC selection in 2010 and is a 2011 preseason selection by five publications.
