Richfield/Edina Rampage Get Win Over Mahtomedi

The Rampage will next compete Monday night against Unity Wisconsin.

The Richfield/Edina Rampage competed at Tartan High School last Thursday in a Classic Suburban Conference Triangular which resulted in a win, 54-27 over Mahtomedi, and a lose to Tartan, 21-60. The Rampage were led by the following athletes that won both matches: Patrick Voigt (106, Richfield, gr. 8) with two pins, six pins on the season and a conference record of 4-0, Obsa Ali (113, Richfield, gr. 11), Justin Swetala (120, Richfield, gr. 11), Hayden Vosbeek (126, Edina, gr. 10). Chandler Arredondo (195, Richfield, gr. 12) had a great night with a pin over Mahtomedi and a close loss, 2-4 in overtime, to a defending state champion from Tartan.

The Rampage competed at the Burnsville Invitational on Saturday and finished 9th with 74 team points, out of 13 teams. Place winners included: Obsa Ali 2nd at 113 (overall record 16-1), Justin Swetala 5th at 120 (overall record 11-7), Bruno Reyes 6th at 145 (Richfield, gr. 12), Noah Sawatzky 6th at 170 (Edina, gr. 10), Chandler Arredondo 1st at 195 (overall record 16-3), Alex Beyerl 5th at 220 (Edina, gr. 11), and Brandon Khamvongsa 4th at HWT (Richfield, gr. 12). Obsa and Chandler provided the leadership on Saturday while the improved their career records to 51 wins and 66 wins respectively.

Our next competition is Monday, 1/7 at Edina High School vs. Unity WI; Tuesday 1/8 at Richfield High School vs. Spectrum High School and Benilde-St. Margaret; Thursday, 1/10 at St. Thomas Academy; Saturday, 1/12 at Richfield High School for a 9 team invitational.
