Richfield Cross Country Teams Place 11th at Burnsville Blaze Invitational

The Richfield Spartans' Hannah Olson finishes seventh overall.

The competed at the Burnsville Blaze Invitational on Thursday, with both teams finishing 11th overall.

The boys squad finished 11th with a 261 team score, while Owatonna and Mahtomedi tied to win the event with 53 points. On the girls side, Richfield took 11th with 258 points, while Shakopee won the meet with 59 points.

For the Spartans girls team, senior finished seventh overall with a 15:23.1 finish. Erin Brault finished 33rd with a 16:54.0 finish, Sarah Nygaard took 71st at 17:59.7 and Lea Mohn took 72nd at 18:05.1. In addition, Hannah Adams took 75th at 18:31.8, Erica Strom finished 76th at 19:45.1 and Laura Kruse-Simonsen finished 80th at 20:48.3.

On the boys side, senior finished 32nd at 18:08.8 to lead the team. Jake Beaudet finished 34th at 18:11.9, Lucas Blanchard finished 60th at 18:39.4 and Max Hamilton finished 68th at 18:47.3. In addition, Calvin Bergen took 69th at 18:49.8 and Jon Libra took 79th at 19:44.1.

The boys’ individual event winner was Burnsville’s Cole O’Brien, who finished in 16:36.8. Shakopee’s Maria Hauger, the two-time defending Class AA state champion, took first on the girls side, winning in 14:02.6.

The Spartans’ next event will be Tuesday, Oct. 4 at the Victoria Lions Invite in Chaska.
