The first batch of area students participate in the 2011 Teen Police Academy.

Many area students, Grades 6-8, came to Richfield S.T.E.M. School to meet with local law enforcement at the 2011 Richfield Teen Police Academy. Students saw presentations about drugs, cyber bullying, self defense and were introduced to Wojo, a canine member of the Richfield Public Safety Department.

The event aims to educate participants about crime and how officers perform their jobs, as well as build trust between police and kids.

Another session for students in Grades 9-12 will be held on Feb. 19 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
