Holy Angels Golfers 8th After First Round at State

The Stars shot a 333 on the day; Three-time defending champion Orono sits in fourth place.

The finished the first day of the Class AAA state tournament in eighth place on Wednesday.

The Stars shot a 333 at Ridges at Sand Creek in Jordan, MN 34 shots off the pace of team-leading Marshall. The Tigers lead the field with a 299, Detroit Lakes shot a 302, Staples Motley shot a 303 and three-time defending champion Orono shot a 306.

The second round will take place Thursday with a 7:30 a.m. tee time in Jordan.

Individually, Stars junior Josh Littman leads the way with an 80. He is currently tied with seven other golfers for 48th place overall.

Senior Ben Hook shot an 83 on the day and its tied for 66th place. Teammates Connor Flaherty and Griffin Baker each shot an 85 and are tied for 76th overall. Charlie Haumersen shot a 93 and is in 85th place, while Matt Sharockman shot a 107 and is in 87th place.
