Former Assistant Principal Returns to Lead Richfield High

Jason Wenschag will return to the district this fall.

The next principal is no stranger to the building. In fact, he spent five years there not long ago.

, formerly an assistant principal at RHS and principal at , will return to the district to take on the lead adminstrative position at the high school. The announcement came Tuesday afternoon.

“Following three interviews and careful analysis of data gathered through a comprehensive assessment of knowledge, experience, dispositions and characteristics, I am confident that welcoming Jason back to Richfield is the right thing to do," Superintendent Bob Slotterback said in a press release.

Wenschlag holds degrees from the University of St. Thomas, North Dakota State University and the University of Minnesota. And having worked at both the elementary and the high school level in the Richfield district, he believes he's a natural fit.

“I feel my strengths as a leader directly coincide with those that might benefit Richfield High School," Wenschlag said in the release.

to take a position at an elementary school in Wayzata. He won out over two other candidates . The district took up the search after the now-former principal, . Fuchs resignation came after less than one year in any principal position.

Wenschlag will officially take the helm after the Richfield School Board gives the approval at the July 16 regular meeting.
