Chirp Fight: Richfield & Red Wing Fans Trade Insults on Twitter

The girls missed a shot at the state title Thursday, and the trash talk started Twitter shortly after.

Following Richfield's upset loss to Red Wing Thurday afternoon, fans on both sides of the court started throwing cyber bows on Twitter.

Much of the tweet war was too inappropriate to print on Richfield Patch. However, some that were appropriate enough, can be seen in the window above.

Richfield fans argued that Red Wing should have never won the game, while Red Wing rubbed it in. Someone predicted an actual fight, with a Richfield supporter putting money on the Spartans' town folk to win. Even Richfield girls basketball team member Bobbi Biever commented during the war of words, tweeting: "At least Richfield is classy."

One person in particular, using the Twitter handle @codyleitner3, seemed to capture the most attention. Most of the chirper's comments couldn't be printed, however, the tweet series against Richfield ended with:

"Chirping Richfield is officially over now, sorry for the sorrow I may have cost. #ELE everybody love everybody."
