Poll: Can Richfield Defeat the Reigning State Champs?

Richfield hopes to clinch the state title in its first ever state tournament appearance.

, the girls basketball team will take on reigning state champ, DeLaSalle, at 6 p.m. Saturday at Target Center.

Besides being the reigning champs, the Islanders go into the final game on a 15-game winning streak. While Richfield's nine-game streak is nothing to snuff at, their defensive tactics and ability to make shots will be key. Both teams go into the title game with similar records; Richfield sitting at 27-4 and DeLaSalle at 27-3.

Stay tuned for more Richfield Patch coverage of the girls' state run.

Can they make it happen? Take our poll below and tell us why in the comments section.

Lee has predicted the Spartans to win by 10! Anyone else have a guess on the outcome?

I believe it will be a close game that will not be decided until the final seconds. The players need all the fan support they can get. Let get as many fans to the game as possible. After 6:00p.m. Saturday night you can ride Metro buses and Light Rail for free. Let's get to the Target Center and show our support. Go Lady Spartans!

Yes. And there will likely be a send-off rally at the school and definitely a homecoming rally following the game. I'll get details on that. Show your Spartans Pride!

I'm apprehensive. Richfield teams have proven to choke in big games before (boys in the 2005 state title game), so I hope this time is different. DeLasalle is very good.

That was an amazing game and great win for the islanders knowing some who goes to Richfield made it hard for me to choose between my own team and Spartans but I knew we would be able to do it hopefully Richfield gets it next year or after that. Btw fergus falls otters are better than they appear to be after all they were 29-2
