Letter to the Editor: Three Rivers Park Chairmain Shows Support for Gunyou

The following is a Letter to the Editor.

To the Editor,

As the current Chairman and 4th District Commissioner, we are both supporting John Gunyou for Three Rivers Park Commissioner.

Like all public agencies, Three Rivers faces the challenges of continuing to provide the excellent facilities and services our users have come to expect. With over 40 years of public service, John has proven himself time and time again as a creative and committed leader who can help us meet that challenge of financial and environmental sustainability.

John will be a great addition to the Board, as we all work to preserve and protect the great parks, trails and natural areas we have grown to love and expect - far into the future. Based on our past working relationships with him over the years, we are confident that John will get the job done.

Please join us in supporting John Gunyou for Three Rivers Park Commissioner.

Richfield voters: Please be aware that the endorsement letter was written by Woodbeck and Blackstad, who voted to accumulate more than $83 million in new debt now carried by the Three Rivers Park District. Think about it before summarily acting upon what a politician tells you is best for you. Blackstad, an appointed Commissioner, wishes to raise the levy at the Legislature to pay for what he, Woodbeck and another Commissioner have thus far overbuilt and over-committed on the public's dime. Capital is a resource that needs to be managed, just as much as the natural features on the landscape. They failed to responsibly manage either.
