Garcia, Buzicky To Battle It Out For City Council Seat

Kent Fairbairn was eliminated from the race Tuesday night.

Former Minnesota House representative and city council member and retired Richfield firefighter Dave Buzicky will compete for the lone open Richfield City Council seat this November.

Garcia received just over 50 percent of the votes Tuesday night, ending with 345 in total. Buzicky took just over 30 percent of the votes, or 208 in total.

Unfortunately, council hopeful was eliminated from the race, garnering just 136 votes, or about 20 percent. Shortly after the results came in, Fairbairn wrote on his campaign Facebook page:

"Congratulations to Dave and Edwina. It looks to be a very close race in November."

He also said he would keep the Facebook page and looked forward to staying involved in Richfield.

The soon-to-be-open seat covers the city's second ward, which includes most of central Richfield. The seat is currently held by two-term , who announced in May. A PDF of the three city wards has been attached to this article.
