A look at Tuesday's primaries and what Richfield voters will have before them.

Richfield residents, like many Minnesotans, will be hitting the polls Tuesday to help narrow the field of local and state candidates before November's general election.

Yes, Tuesday, Aug. 14 is Minnesota Primary day.

Richfield Patch has put together a guide of sorts to help locals before heading to their respective polling locations.

Richfield City Council

, and Dave Buzicky are all vying for the soon-to-be-vacant spot of who represents Ward 2.

Residents of Ward 2 will be asked to vote for one candidate. The two candidates with the most votes will move on to the general election ballot.

Current city council members (Ward 1) and (Ward 3) are running for re-election unopposed and will not be featured on the primary ballot.

Richfield Patch asked all candidates to fill out a questionnaire and compiled profiles for those who responded. To see the profiles, click on the name highlighted in blue:

U.S. House and Senate

U.S. House Rep. Keith Ellison (D-MN) is being challenged by fellow DFLers and Gregg Iverson, and one Republican candidate, .

On the Senate side, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) is being challenged by three other DFLers, three Republicans and two Independents.

of Rosemount is looking to dethrone Klobuchar and is the endorsed Republican candidate. (.)

Voters can select one candidate in total. The candidate with the highest number of votes from each party will move on to the November general election ballot.

Where you live in the city determines where you vote and you must vote at your designated precinct. The redistricting may have caused your precinct location to change.

Precinct 1: (6541 16th Ave. S.)

Precinct 2: (6720 Nicollet Ave. S.)

Precinct 3: (6400 Sheridan Ave. S.)

Precinct 4: (7540 Penn Ave. S.)

Precinct 6: Central School Building (7145 Harriet Ave. S.)

All nine Richfield precinct locations are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on primary day.

It looks like we're missing the names of some in the Senate race. It looks like it's a 9 person race; I don't get why we only have two names identified, here? hrm... ;-/

There was no malicious intent here. I was just trying to keep it short and sweet. All the sample ballots have been uploaded for people to see all those involved. But, since you mention it, to name all those in the Senate race against current Sen. Klobuchar: DFL - Darryl Stanton, Jack Edward Shepard and Dick Franson; GOP - Kurt Bills (named above), Bob Carney, Jr. and David Carlson; Independence - Stephen Williams and Glen R. Anderson Menze.
