Victim Swindled Out of $8K, Student Busted With Marijuana & Gas Theft: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

All the following information was taken from the Richfield Public Safety Department's crime reports from March 18, 2013, detailing incidents from March 14-16.

March 14

  • Officers responded to a disturbance on the 6700 block of Cedar Avenue. One female was found at the scene and detained for investigation. She gave a false name and birth date to officers.
  • Police took a report of an assault that had occurred on March 13 on the 7400 block of 17th Avenue.
  • A victim reported being swindled out of $8,000 after an unknown black woman approached her in a parking lot. The suspect was carrying a package and told the victim she needed her assistance in delivering it.
  • A victim reported being swindled.

March 15

  • A Richfield High School student was cited for marijuana possession on school grounds.
  • A male was arrested for stealing a car that was parked on the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue. The vehicle was returned to the owner.
  • A victim reported being swindled out of $200. She was reportedly told to donate the money to charity and she would receive cash in return.
  • Super America, 826 W. 66th St., reported a gas theft of $67.75.
  • Police responded to a burglary on the 6600 block of Irving Avenue. Officers arrived and located the suspect. The 27-year-old suspect was arrested for burglary and possession of a controlled substance.

March 16

  • A victim reported three unknown juvenile females attempted to rob her and take her cell phone when she was walking home. The victim later recovered her cell phone. The incident occurred on the 6300 block of 1st Avenue.
  • Officers responded to a report of a drunk female stumbling in a parking lot on the 66th Street West. After she made contact with the vehicle, police initiated field sobriety tests and she was arrested for DUI.
