Richfield Woman, Bloomington Man Charged with Burglarizing Apartment Garage

Heidi Marie Fox of Richfield and Andrew James Remer of Bloomington are charged with first-degree burglary and possession of burglary tools.

A Richfield woman and a Bloomington man have been charged with burglary after police say they were caught rifling through cars in the parking garage of an Eagan apartment building on the day after Christmas.

Heidi Marie Fox, 33, and Andrew James Remer, 25, are each charged with two felonies: first-degree burglary, which carries a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison and a $35,000 fine, and possession of burglary tools, which has a maximum penalty of three years in prison and a $5,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, Eagan police were called to an apartment building in the 1800 block of Silver Bell Road at about 5:30 a.m. after a caller reported that she saw two people walking through the garage.

The complaint stated that when police arrived they found a man wearing a hooded sweatshirt walking among the parked cars. Police arrested the man, identified him as Remer and searched him. During the search, police reportedly found two screwdrivers, a handicapped placard, a garage door opener, latex gloves, a key to the apartment building’s front door and “several items of small value,” including a checkbook and a driver’s license.

Officers found Fox hiding in a corner of the garage beside a sport-utility vehicle. She was allegedly carrying a small black bag containing screwdrivers, wrenches, latex gloves, charging cables and a GPS unit.

Police also interviewed a maintenence worker and the person who reported the two individuals in the garage. No court date information was available at the time of this article.
