Richfield Police Report Spike in Thefts from Vehicle

After a rise in theft from vehicle incidents, Richfield Public Safety gives tips to help prevent thefts.

During the first half of August 2011, reported an increase in theft from autos, according to a e-mail crime alert.

There were 22 incidents, most happening over night in the east area of Lyndale Avenue between 66th and 76th Streets, with losses ranging from stereos, GPS systems and cash, to cell phones and car batteries. we've experienced a spike in theft from autos.According to the alert, many of the vehicles were unlocked and at least two contained wallets.

wanted to remind residents to not leave valuables or keys in a vehicle, and to always lock car doors and garages.
