Richfield Man Took Laptop from France Ave. Edina Home, Charges Say

The homeowner and his son confronted the alleged burglar but he escaped in a van, according to police. Cody Peterson, 24, was later pulled over in the van on suspicion of drunk driving.

A Richfield man is accused of breaking into an Edina home on France Avenue and stealing a laptop computer.

Cody John Peterson, 24, is charged with felony second-degree burglary.

The resident of a home on the 6200 block of France Avenue returned home on Aug. 31 to find Peterson leaving his home and another man sitting in a van outside, according to the criminal complaint.

The homeowner and his son confronted the two, but they drove away. Police located the van based on a license plate number the homeowner had written down, when Bloomington police stopped Peterson on suspicion of drunk driving.

The homeowner and his son identified Peterson in a police lineup as the man who left his home. A laptop was found in the van belonged to the homeowner’s wife.

Peterson faces up to ten years behind bars.
