Registration For 2012 Citizen Police Academy Opens

The registration period goes until Sept. 6.

The 19th annual Richfield Citizen Police Academy begins Thursday, Sept. 20 and continues every Thursday through Oct. 18.

The sessions are from from 6:30-9:30 p.m. ans is a free course designed to give residents a working knowledge of the operations and responsibilites of the and officers. It's also a great opportunity to meet and talk with officers.

  • An administrative overview;
  • Patrol procedures;
  • Police communications;
  • Criminal investigations;
  • Traffic enforcement;
  • Tour of the facilities;
  • Hennepin County Crime Lab.

Any person who is at least 18 years old and lives or owns a business in Richfield may attend the academy. There are no physical qualifications necessary and mandatory attendance of all sessions is not required.

A criminal history check will be conducted on all applicants. Deadline to register is Sept. 6. If your application is approved, you will receive a confirmation letter along with a course schedule in mid-September.
