Police Negotiate the Surrender of a 'Barricaded Subject'

A person who had barricaded themself in a Richfield apartment Wednesday morning was reportedly armed with a weapon, according to a police press release.

Richfield Public Safety officers responded to a Richfield apartment on a report of a barricaded subject with a weapon early Wednesday morning.

According to a police press release, police responded to the call at 6:43 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6 at an apartment on the 7700 block of Penn Avenue. 

When officers arrived, they secured the scene and negotiations with the subject were initiated. At approximately 7:48 a.m. the subject exited the apartment and surrendered to police personnel without incident, the release said.

The subject was transported to Hennepin County Medical Center for treatment for minor injuries sustained during the arrest process. The incident is currently under investigation. The identity of the subject has not been released.
