Man Suffers Stab Wound to Neck in Richfield

The incident occurred early Monday morning near 66th Street and Nicollet Avenue.

A man was stabbed in the area of 66th Street and Nicollet Avenue early Tuesday morning.

According to a release from the Richfield Public Safety Department, police and rescue personnel were dispatched to the 66th and Nicollet area at 1:29 a.m. on a report of a stabbing.

When police arrived, the victim was found with a stab wound to the neck. Aid was administered and Hennepin County paramedic transported him to Hennepin County Medical Center for further treatment.

Richfield officers also set up a perimeter and initiated a K-9 track, according to the release. The suspect was located in the 6300 block of Nicollet Avenue hiding between two parked cars. He was taken into custody without incident, transported to Hennepin County Jail and booked for second-degree assault.

The victim was in surgery and his condition was unknown at the time of the release. Police are continuing the investigation.
