Man Charged with Raping Co-Worker at Richfield Group Home

A Maplewood man has been charged with allegedly raping a co-worker in a Richfield group home at knifepoint in December.

Peter Nyakeoga Osebe, 43, is charged with first-degree criminal sexual conduct, classified as a serious felony with a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $40,000 fine.

According to the criminal complaint, compiled by Detective Patrick Moriarty, police were called to the group home in the 7200 block of Lyndale Avenue South on Dec. 3 on a report of a sexual assault. In the report, the victim told police that her co-worker, who she identified as Osebe, had raped her on Dec. 2.

According to the complaint, the victim said she was clocking out from her shift at about 10:15 p.m., when Osebe came into the office and grabbed her arm. According to the complaint, when she refused his advances, he turned off the lights in the office, threw her to the ground and climbed on top of her. The victim told police that she could feel a knife being pressed against her throat.

Police found a stain on the floor and took samples, which tested positive for the presence of semen. According to the complaint, the sample was compared to a sample obtained from Osebe, and the two matched.

Osebe remains in the Hennepin County Jail on a $100,000 bond. An omnibus hearing in his case is scheduled for April 3 in Hennepin County District Court.
