Man Arrested for Strangulation Following Richfield Assault

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its more recent crime reports.

Richfield Public Safety officers responded to a variety of incident calls between July 11 and 13, including domestic assault, forgery and disorderly conduct. Below are details of the incidents:

July 11

  • A resident reportedly receiving a fraudulent check in the mail as payment for an item listed on Craig's List.
  • A driver was cited for marijuana possession after police made a routine traffic stop. A strong odor of marijuana was reportedly coming from a vehicle during the stop.
  • Police responded to a domestic between a mother and a daughter on the 7200 block of Oakland Avenue. The mother then fled in a vehicle.
  • Police took a report of an assault that occurred in Richfield on July 6. A female victim had gone to the hospital to be treated for injuries sustained in the assault.
July 12
  • Police responded to a report of a domestic on the 7700 block of Penn Avenue. Officers located an intoxicated female who stated her intoxicated boyfriend had punched her once in the face and then left. The male was gone when police arrived and he was not located.
  • Police responded to a welfare check following an alleged robbery on the 7500 block of Cedar Avenue. Police discovered an cell phone had been stollen and the reporting party was the victim. The estimated loss is $600.
  • Police responded to a report of threatening messages via text and Facebook from one juvenile male to another juvenile victim.
  • Police responded to a report of damage to a mail delivery truck on the 6400 block of Penn Avenue.
  • Police responded to a report of an Asian male being strangled by his brother-in-law on the 7300 block of Cedar Avenue. The suspect was gone when police arrived.
  • Police responded to a report of a theft that had occurred on July 11, 2013 on the 7300 block of Cedar Avenue. The victim reported known parties stole clothing from a bedroom at the residence.
  • A vehicle parked on the shoulder of northbound I-35W and 66th Street West was reported stolen.
July 13
  • After receiving a report of a disturbance near 10th Avenue and 75th Street East, police found an intoxicated juvenile. The juvenile was taken to the hospital due to his level of intoxication.
  • Police responded to a report of a panhandler near 66th Street West and I-35W. The party was issued a citation.
  • A man was arrested for felony strangulation after police took a report of a domestic assault.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the 7100 block of Nicollet Avenue.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from Posters on Board on the 6200 block of Penn Avenue.
