A Richfield man has been charged with second-degree burglary after an Edina man and his son confronted him as he left their home with a stolen laptop.

Cody John Peterson, 24, faces up to ten years behind bars.

According to the criminal complaint:

On Aug. 31, a resident of a home on the 6200 block of France Avenue in Edina saw a man leaving his front door and entering a van parked in his driveway.

The man's son took down the van's license plate before it drove off and got a look at the face of the driver. When the man went inside, he discovered his wife's laptop was missing.

Bloomington police later stopped the van on suspicion that the driver was intoxicated. The driver and his two passengers were arrested.

One of the passengers was identified as Peterson by the man and his son in a police line-up. The other passenger told police she saw Peterson enter the home and emerge with a laptop.
