Man Allegedly Strangles Richfield Woman

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

All the following information was taken from the ’s Incident and Arrest reports from Sept. 6, detailing incidents from Sept. 1-3.

A Richfield woman reported that the father of her child assaulted and strangled her Sept. 1. She was transported to by HCMC paramedics shortly after officers arrived on the scene. The suspect was not located. Her condition at the time of transport is unknown.

An unknown suspect smashed in the rear window of a vehicle in a parking lot on the 7400 block of Lyndale Avenue Sept. 1.

The manager of reported that while that an unknown person entered through a roof access sometime between the store being closed Aug. 31 and the arrival of the first worker on Sept. 1. $53 in change and some desserts were reported taken.

Police investigated an attempted burglary Sept. 1.

reported a shoplifting incident Sept. 2. The suspect was gone when Police arrived, however two items were recovered.

Four individuals were charged with criminal damage to property after a victim observed one of the suspects inside his vehicle. Fifty CDs were taken, however the suspects were located and cited for the crime.

Police investigated a child endangerment incident at the hotel on 77th Street and 12th Avenue Sept. 2. The children were taken to St. Joseph’s Home for Children, however the parents later contacted Police and stated the children had left while the father was sleeping.

A $600 generator was taken from a construction trailer near 66th Street and Queen Avenue on Sept. 2.

Police responded to a report of a violation of a protection order and possible vehicle theft on the 7500 block of Cedar Avenue Sept. 2. The victim stated she had a protection order against her boyfriend and he had taken her vehicle, while also threatening her if she called the police. He was later apprehended by Crystal Police and taken to Hennepin County Jail.

A victim went to the Richfield Public Safety station Sept. 2 to report that her husband assaulted her the day before and two weeks prior to that date as well. She is attempting to get a order of protection against him.

reported a shoplifting incident Sept. 2. The juvenile suspect was being held by the store until Police arrived and cited him for the offense. He was then released to his grandmother.

A man reported that he had been robbed after an unknown suspect put him in a choke hold, showed him a knife and then took his wallet Sept. 2.

A 35-year-old Minneapolis man was charged with DUI after failing field sobriety tests Sept. 3.

A woman reported on Sept. 3 that her former boyfriend was harassing her by coming to her residence, calling and texting disturbing messages. Police took an informational report.

On Sept. 3, a man went to the police station and reported that after his credit card was stolen at , it had been used at three other locations throughout the city for $5.66, $300.97 and $442.97 purchases.
