Juvenile Busted With Handgun, Fleeing an Officer & Forgery: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

All the following information was taken from the Richfield Public Safety Department's crime reports from March 11, 2013, detailing incidents from March 7-9.

March 7

  • A 27-year-old Bloomington man was arrested for driving after license suspension, driving without insurance and marijuana possession in a motor vehicle.
  • A 39-year-old Minneapolis woman was arrested for fourth-degree DWI.
  • Police responded to a report of a forgery on the 6500 block of Nicollet Avenue. Ace Cash Express reported that a female was trying to cash a forged check for $2,000. The female was released pending further investigation.
  • A vehicle parked at a business on the 1000 block of 78th Street West was reported stolen. Video surveillance revealed unknown persons approached the car and drove away in it.
  • A purse was reported stolen at the Hub Shopping Center. Three hundred dollars in cash was lost.
  • A cell phone left in the bathroom by an employee was reported stolen from Tan Line.
  • While conducting a traffic stop on westbound I-494 at Nicollet Avenue, an officer detected the smell of marijuana in the vehicle. The vehicle's occupants were subsequently searched and police found a handgun in the waistband of a juvenile. The party was arrested and taken to jail without incident.

March 8

  • A patient at Richfield Health Care Center was cited for marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession.
  • Police responded to a theft from vehicle incident on the 7700 block of Penn Avenue.
  • A 53-year-old Richfield residents was cited for shoplifting from Target.
  • A victim reported that an unknown person had fraudulently opened four Bill Me Accounts in her name.

March 9

  • A vehicle was stopped for numerous traffic violations near the intersection of 72nd Street East and Bloomington Avenue. The 25-year-old driver was arrested for third degree DUI, fleeing a police officer on foot and driving after license revocation.
  • Police responded to a report of an assault in progress at Motel 6. Two adult males and one juvenile male were arrested for second-degree assault and robbery. One female party was taken to jail on an outstanding warrant.
