HIt & Runs, Shoplifting and Harassment: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

All the following information was taken from the Richfield Public Safety Department's crime reports from Jan. 14, 2013, detailing incidents from Jan. 10-13.

Jan. 10

  • A break-in was reported at an apartment building's maintanance room on the 7600 block of Penn Avenue. No loss was reported.
  • A hit and run was reported, damaging the side mirror of a vehicle parked on the street.
  • Officers filed a burglary report and discovered items were taken and items were purchased for this person. The victim is a vulenerable adult.
  • Super America, 2913 W. 66th St., reported a gas theft.
  • A victim reported her son for kicing in the door of her resience on the 900 block of 77th Street East. Officers were familiar with the suspect who was believed to have an active protection order at the time of the incident.
  • Police responded to Target on a shoplifter in custody. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.
  • Officers responded to a report of an assault that occurred approximately a month ago. The victim's story was inconsistent.
  • Police responded to a report of harassing communications. The victim stated that she believed her 70-year-old former relative was harassing her via the telephone.
  • A female reported receiving messages from a male party on Kik Messenger. Male was requesting sexual favors and provactive pictures, which the female declined.
  • Super America, 826 W. 66th St., reported a gas theft of $37.
  • Police responded to a report of an intoxicated male on the 7700 block of 12th Avenue. Upon arrival it was found that the intoxicated male had a misdemeanor warrant and was also placed under arrest for domestic assault.
  • Police responded to a hit and run on the 7000 block of 4th Avenue. The suspect was subsequently arrested for DWI.

Jan. 11

  • An uknown person driving a vehicle on the 6300 block of 4th Avenue slid off the roadway and struck the deck of a residence and left the scene. There are no suspects at this time.
  • A victim said a suspect stole $320 or $340 from his hands while he was talking with him.
  • Two vehicles were reported stolen from a garage on the 7600 block of Knox Avenue.
  • Police responded to Target on a shoplifter in custody. The suspect was issued a citation and released at the scene.
  • Police responded to a shoplifting report at AutoZone. A juvenile was issued a citation.
  • While searching for suspects in a shoplifting case, the suspect was located along with a juvenile male. The juvenile was found to have tobacco in his possession and was cited.
  • An iPad was reported stolen.
  • Officers located two juveniles, with one that had placed a full ski mask over his head while entering CVS. One juvenile was cited for tobacco possession.

Jan. 12

  • A victim reported that she believed her nephew, who is a chronic drug user, entered her home without permission and removed her wallet from her purse. Her American Express card was used Jan. 11. All cards were cancelled.
  • A cell phone was reported stolen from Petsmart.
  • Richfield Liquor, 6444 Lyndale Ave. S., reported that an unidentified black male took four bottles of liquor and left the store.

  • A 34-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested for third-degree DWI.
