Gas Siphoning, Fake $10 Bills & Employee Thefts: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

All the following information was taken from the Richfield Public Safety Department's crime reports from June 20, 2013, detailing incidents from June 16-19.

June 16

  • Following a traffic stop, a vehicle passenger was cited for marijuana possession and the driver was arrested for driving after suspension.
  • Police responded to a disturbance on the 600 block of 78th Street East. One of the parties was arrested for third-degree DWI and taken to jail.
  • A Target employee was cited for stealing and released at the scene.
  • An unlocked bicycle was reported stolen from the 6700 block of Lake Shore Drive.
  • Police responded to an armed robbery near Nicollet Avenue and 77th Street East. The victim reported that $200 in cash was taken.
June 17
  • While on routine patrol, an officer found a occupied vehicle parked in a lot on the 6500 block of Portland Avenue. The driver was cited for marijuana and drug paraphernalia possession.
  • Several bikes were reported stolen from a home on the 7400 block of Oliver Avenue. A suspect was identified.
  • A set of golf clubs were reportedly stolen on the 6300 block of Nicollet Avenue. The value of the clubs is between $400 and $500.
  • A female suspect attempted to cash a fraudulent check at a bank on the 6400 block of Nicollet Avenue. The female advised officers of other possible suspects.
  • A driver was arrested for giving a false name to an officer and driving after license cancelation following a traffic stop.
  • Super America, 826 W. 66th St., reported a gas theft of $38.71. 
  • Police responded to a burglary report on the 7700 block of Penn Avenue. Electronics, jewelry and cash were among the items taken. There are no suspects at this time.
June 18
  • Police responded to a domestic assault on the 6600 block of Clinton Avenue. The suspect was driving a vehicle and found to be intoxicated. The suspect was arrested and taken to jail.
  • A pressure washer was reported stolen from a garage on the 6900 block of 17th Avenue.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the 7100 block of Nicollet Avenue.
  • A business on the 1400 block of 66th Street East reported that an unknown suspect or suspects passed at least nine counterfeit $10 bills all bearing the same serial number on June 17.
  • A vehicle parked on the 7700 block of Penn Avenue was stolen.
  • A victim reported that an unknown person used his debit card to make fraudulent transactions.
  • A victim reported that someone used one of his checks fraudulently.
  • Police made contact with an 18-year-old female on the 900 block of 66th Street West. The woman was heavily intoxicated, cited for drug paraphernalia possession and released to a family member.
June 19
  • Police responded to a possible burglary on the 7300 block of Clinton Avenue. The suspect had left the area and was not located.
  • Police responded to a shoplifting report at a business on the 10 block of 66th Street West. $58 in cigarettes were reportedly taken.
  • Police took a report of an employee who had made fraudulent transactions with gift cards he cashed. The employee signed a statement and admitted to the theft.
  • A laptop was reported stolen from the 6300 block of Bryant Avenue.
  • A victim reported $100 in cash was stolen from his wallet on the 7500 block of 17th Avenue.
  • Police responded to a report of two parties fighting on the 7700 block of Nicollet Avenue. The parties were both cited for disorderly conduct.
  • Police responded to a theft on the 6200 block of 11th Avenue. The reporting party stated that sometime overnight gas had been siphoned from a vehicle parked on the street.
