Drug Deal Gone Bad, Sexual Assaults & Stolen Bikes: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

All the following information was taken from the Richfield Public Safety Department's crime reports from July 11, 2013, detailing incidents from July 7 through July 10.

July 7

  • Police responded to a domestic assault on the 7700 block of 12th Avenue. An adult male was arrested.
  • Police responded to a report of a female screaming at an undisclosed location. The female was located and stated that she had been raped.
  • Police responded to a burglary report on the 6600 block of 11th Avenue. The suspect had run out the front door upon the owner's return home.
July 8
  • After a routine traffic stop, a female passenger was arrested for an outstanding warrant and also issued a citation for drug paraphernalia possession.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the 7700 block of Nicollet Avenue.
  • A victim reported receiving harassing phone calls.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the 6400 block of Richfield Parkway.
  • A suspect reportedly tried to use a counterfeit $20 bill at a business on the 90 block of 66th Street West. The suspect was not located.
  • A victim reported that his right, rear tire had been slashed while parked in an alley behind his home on the 6800 block of Xerxes Avenue.
  • A victim reported that an unknown person had attempted to set up credit card accounts in his name.
  • Police took a report of a protection order violation.
  • Two bicycles were reported stolen from the 600 block of 66th Street East. Another bicycle was reported stolen from the 6500 block of Lyndale Avenue.
  • An officer took a report of a drug offense where a party attempted to use a fake prescription to obtain Oxycodone.
  • Police responded to a domestic assault on the 6500 block of Emerson Avenue. An adult male was arrested.
  • Police responded to a disturbance where a male and a female were fighting in a car. The female party was uncooperative. 
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the 80 block of 66th Street West.
July 9
  • Police took a report of a theft that occurred on July 2. Items that had been taken were jewelry and cash.
  • Police responded to a report of criminal property damage on the 7500 block of 16th Avenue. According to the homeowner, the exterior screen on a northwest corner room had been slashed. No entry was made.
  • Two ladders were reported stolen from a yard on the 6700 block of 13th Avenue.
  • Super America, 826 W. 66th St., reported a gas theft of $60.
  • Tires were slashed on a vehicle parked on the 7600 block of Penn Avenue.
July 10
  • Police responded to a domestic and attempted rape at an undisclosed location. An adult male was located and arrested.
  • Police took a report of a van's rear windows being broken out. Nothing was taken from the interior of the van.
  • Police responded to a shoplifter in custody at Target. The total theft was $345. The suspect was cited and trespassed from the location.
  • Police responded to a property damage report on the 6400 block of Richfield Parkway.
  • The back windshield of a victims car was reportedly broken out.
  • Police responded to a possible robbery on the 7100 block of Cedar Avenue. Upon arrival, and after speaking with parties involved, police determined that it was a drug deal gone bad and one party was arrested for possession of crack cocaine, possession of counterfeit bills, and giving false information to a police officer.
