A Dish TV Scam, Swindling & Sexual Assault: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

All the following information was taken from the Richfield Public Safety Department's crime reports from Jan. 28, 2013, detailing incidents from Jan. 24-27.

Jan. 24

  • Police assisted in a stolen property incident involving a cell phone and a student who attends Richfield High School.
  • A swindling incident was reported by a victim who said a woman claimed to be a Dish Network representative to obtain $360.
  • A victim reported that a friend who was entrusted to write her checks, due to the victims disability, wrote unauthorized checks.
  • A woman reported her purse stolen from the trunk of her car. The car was parked at Hub Shopping Center.
  • Police responded to a report of a drug sale at Marathon gas station on the 7700 block of 12th Avenue. The suspect was located, arrested and taken to the Richfield Police Department for booking.
  • A catalytic converter and two oxygen sensors were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue.

  • A victim reported that $30 had been withdrawn from his checking account without authorization.
  • A victim reported that an unknown person left a message on her phone stating, "Sarah, I will kill you."
  • Super America, 826 W. 66th St., reported a gas theft of $31.32.
  • A 24-year-old Minneapolis woman was arrested for receiving stolen property after police stopped her for not having her headlights on.

Jan. 26

  • A screen protector was reported stolen from a business on the 30 block of 66th Street West.
  • Officers stopped a vehicle whose driver was following his estranged wife and was known to have a gun in the car. The gun was removed and the party was cited for drug paraphernalia possession.
  • A victim reported being swindled by a Dish TV scam in which $360 was lost.
  • Police responded to a domestic on the 7100 block of 18th Avenue.
  • Super America, 826 W. 66th St., reported a gas theft of $50.

  • A 54-year-old Richfield man was charged with fouth-degree DUI.
  • Police responded to a report of an intoxicated female on the 600 block of 78th Street East and officers discovered she had been sexually assaulted.
  • Police responded to a disturbance at Motel 6. A juvenile female was found and statedd she had been assaulted; she was bleeding from her lip. A 24-year-old Carver man was arrested.
