Child Neglect, Sexy Texts & Stolen Bicycles: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

Richfield Public Safety officers responded to a variety of incident calls between July 14 and 17, including domestic assault, forgery and disorderly conduct. Below are details of the incidents:

July 14

  • Police responded to a property damage report on the 6800 Lyndale Avenue. An adult male reportedly did an estimated $1,100 of damage to the interior of a home.
  • Graffiti was found on a dugout at Donaldson Park.
  • Police responded to graffiti on multiple signs at the intersection of 65th Street West and Russell Avenue.
  • Police responded to a domestic between a mother and a daughter where a knife had been involved. The juvenile daughter was taken into custody.
  • A driver was arrested for DWI after being stopped near Lake Shore Drive and Lyndale Avenue for a minor traffic offense.
July 15
  • Police responded to an assault on the 6300 block of Pleasant Avenue. A male had been stabbed by a female. The male was taken to the hospital; the female was gone upon police arrival.
  • After employees at two liquor stores failed to sell an intoxicated male liquor, police stopped the man's vehicle and arrested him for DWI.
  • A vehicle was stolen from the 6300 block of Lyndale Avenue. There are no suspects.
  • A victim reported that after transferring a title to a vehicle he sold, he attempted to deposit the cash and was informed that it was counterfeit. 
  • A juvenile was cited for shoplifting after taking $86.44 in clothing items from Target.
  • An iPad was reported stolen from the 6500 block of Woodlake Drive.
  • Items from a storage locker on the 6400 block of Queen Avenue were reported stolen.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the 600 block of 66th Street East.
  • A stereo was reported stolen from a vehicle on the 7700 block of 4th Avenue.
  • Police responded to a group home on the 7500 block of Stevens Avenue after one of the residents reportedly assaulted one of the staff members. The resident had barricaded all the doors to lock staff out.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the 6300 block of Penn Avenue.
  • A suspect was arrested for shoplifting, possession of burglary tools and narcotics after police responded to a theft report at a business on the 1100 block of 78th Street West.
  • A bike was reported stolen from the 600 block of 66th Street East.
  • Police were called to assist in a verbal dispute on the 7000 block of Cedar Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found a marijuana grinder in plain view in the bedroom. A party was cited for drug paraphernalia possession.
July 16
  • T&T Automotive reported a gas theft of $54.21.
  • Police responded to a burglary report on the 6200 block of Aldrich Avenue.
  • Police took a fraud report.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the 6500 block of Lyndale Avenue.
  • BP gas station reported a gas theft of $51.
  • Police responded to a child neglect report on the 7700 block of 4th Avenue. A mother had left her 5- and 7-year-old children at home alone.
July 17
  • A victim reported that $500 had been stolen from the 700 block of 77th Street East.
  • Police took a report from a parent regarding a minor's involvement in a teen chat website and sexually explicit text messages.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the 6500 block of Penn Avenue.
  • Police took a report of a child being sexually assaulted by his cousin.
  • Police responded to a report of two counterfeit $20 bills being passed at CVS.
  • Police responded to a report of an assault on the 7600 block of Penn Avenue. One party was cited for disorderly conduct.
  • A victim stated that she had been assaulted by several parties on the 600 block of 78th Street East. She said she knew the suspects.
  • A bicycle was reported stolen from the 300 block of 78th Street East.
  • A victim reported being pistol whipped by a suspect. The incident is related to a previous disturbance at the location. The suspect has not been located.
