Car Thief Leads Police on Short Chase, Bullying & Shoplifting: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

All the following information was taken from the Richfield Public Safety Department's crime reports from March 25, 2013, detailing incidents from March 21-23.

March 21

  • A victim reported a fraud after wiring $2,000 to a suspect, who had also been threatening the victim.
  • A juvenile was cited for smoking tobacco.
  • *Police responded to a bullying report at a Richfield school. A mother had reported that both her son and daughter had been assaulted.
  • Police responded to a burglary on the 7100 block of Columbus Avenue.
  • Police assisted U.S. Marshalls in the arrest of a suspect for an outstanding warrant on the 6400 block of Newton Avenue. Numerous drug paraphernalia was located, including a felony amount of marijuana.
  • Police responded to a shoplifting report at Super America, 826 W. 66th St.

March 22

  • Police responded to a shoplifting report at Super America, 826 W. 66th St. Estimated loss is $20.
  • Police engaged in a short pursuit of a vehicle after the driver failed to stop for a traffic violation. The driver was arrested for theft of a motor vehicle and fleeing police.
  • Officers responded to a theft report from a business on the 1400 block of East 66th Street. An estimated $749 in cash was reported stolen from a pull tab booth.
  • A domestic assault on the 600 block of 78th Street East was taken at the station.
  • A 45-year-old Burnsville man was arrested for third-degree DWI.
  • After police stopped a driver on the 7300 block of Cedar Avenue, the driver was found to be a suspended driver and the passenger was cited for marijuana possession.

March 23

  • Police responded to a disturbance at Motel 6. A male was found with a small amount of cocaine and marijuana. He was arrested and taken to Hennepin County Jail.
  • A vehicle was reported stolen from the 6700 block of Humboldt Avenue.
