Assault with a 'Large Wooden Stick,' Marijuana Citations and Theft From Safe: Police Blotter

The Richfield Public Safety Department releases its most recent crime reports.

All the following information was taken from the Richfield Public Safety Department's crime reports from Jan. 23, 2013, detailing reports from Jan. 17-21.

Jan. 17

  • Police responded to a report of shoplifting in the 6400 block of Richfield Parkway. Officers cited a juvenile for taking approximately $100 in merchandise.
  • A person reported that an employee of a business in the 6500 block of Nicollet Avenue South did not transfer a vehicle title.
  • A person reported that $500 in clothing in a box was never delivered by an employee of a business in the 6500 block of Nicollet Avenue South.
  • A 44-year-old Burnsville woman was arrest on suspicion of possessing a controlled substance after police stopped a vehicle in the 1100 block of 78th Street West.
  • A person reported someone spray-painted words on a building in the 7400 block of Humboldt Avenue South.
  • A resident reported several items were taken earlier in the day from a home in the 7600 block of Park Avenue South.
  • Police responded to a report of a domestic assault in the 7000 block of Cedar Avenue South. 
  • A man reported someone assaulted him with a large wooden stick in the 7000 block of Cedar Avenue South. The victim, however, did not cooperate with the investigation.

Jan. 18

  • A 28-year-old Richfield man was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence in the 7500 block of Cedar Avenue South.
  • A driver was cited for driving after revocation, no insurance and possession of a small amount of a controlled substance, near the intersection of 62nd Street East and Nicollet Avenue South.
  • An employee of a business in the 2900 block of 66th Street West reported they suspect a former employee took about $6,000 from the safe.
  • The theft of a $1,200 laptop was reported in the 7700 block of Penn Avenue South.
  • A domestic assault was reported in the 6700 block of 10th Avenue South.
  • A burglary was reported in the 7300 block of 14th Avenue South. The total loss was estimated to be about $1,400.
  • Police responded to a report of a drunk male in the 10 block of 66th Street West. Officers took him to detox.
  • Officers smelled a strong odor of marijuana near the intersection of 16th Avenue South and 72nd Street East. Two juveniles were cited for possession of marijuana and curfew violations.

Jan. 19

  • A woman was cited for possession of marijuana and a noise violation in the 1000 block of 77th Street East.
  • Police cited a driver for expired registration tabs in the 700 block of 77th Street East.
  • A 39-year-old Robbinsdale man was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting perfume in the 1000 block of 78th Street West. 
  • A woman living on Pleasant Avenue South reported someone hit her on the head and took her purse when she was walking home.
  • Officers responded to a report of shoplifting in the 7700 block of Lyndale Avenue South.
  • A person was cited for shoplifting in the 6400 block of Richfield Parkway.
  • Police responded to a reported domestic assault in the 6200 block of Irving Avenue South. Officers told the two people involved to stay away from each other.
  • A 33-year-old Richfield man was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault by stangulation in the 7700 block of Bloomington Avenue South.

Jan. 20

  • A 29-year-old Minneapolis man was arrested on suspicion of driving while intoxicated near the intersection of 64th Street East and Portland Avenue South.
  • A 19-year-old Bloomington man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and underage drinking in the 7600 block of Penn Avenue South.
  • A juvenile was arrested on suspicion of domestic assault in the 6700 block of Nicollet Avenue South.
  • Officers investigated a report of terroristic threats in the 6700 block of Nicollet Avenue South.

Jan. 21

  • Someone reported that three males tried to break into a business in the 2900 block of 66th Street West.
  • Police officers investigated a report of domestic violence in the 7500 block of Lyndale Avenue South. They located marijuana, but did not arrest anyone.
